 2016 Preview

Cottage Hill Christian finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Cottage Hill Christian finished sixth in Class 3A region one with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Warriors have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2007 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history.

Cottage Hill Christian was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Warriors want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.2 points a game.

Cottage Hill Christian struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 37.8 points a game.

The Warriors would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, the Cottage Hill Christian football program has struggled with a record of 14-45.

Over the past 15 seasons, Cottage Hill Christian has not won much with a record of 49-99. Their 33.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 3A and 327th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010.

Ham Barnett stepped down after two seasons as the head football coach at Cottage Hill. Hie two teams went 4-16 with a pair of 2-8 seasons.

David Peebles arrives at Cottage Hill Christian after coaching the wide receivers and special teams at Baldwin County High this past season. He has also served on the staffs at McGill-Toolen and Spanish Fort. Peebles is a 33 year old graduate of Gulf Shores.

The Cottage Hill Christian Warriors will play in Class 3A region one during the 2016 season. Cottage Hill Christian will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

The Warriors enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 6 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Warriors if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season. After just 2 wins last year, Cottage Hill Christian will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

Unfortunately, Cottage Hill Christian plays in a region with the likes of Bayside Academy, Flomaton, Mobile Christian and T.R. Miller making it more difficult to claim one of the playoff spots. The Warriors will need to find a way to upset one of those teams and win another three region games to have any chance at the post season.

The Warriors open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Satsuma on Friday, August 19 at Copeland Field. Last year the Satsuma Gators finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 4A region one. The Gators ended last season on a positive note with a win over Chickasaw by a score of 27-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

Cottage Hill Christian and Satsuma have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 2-4-0 record against the Gators. They last met in 2015 with Satsuma winning by a score of 35-19.
